Themes Not Working With all colours
-
I’ve used “Dark Mode” since XP days, with my own custom versions of the provided light mode theme.
This issues been present, at least since the new Dark Mode has existed, if not longer, and I’ve finally made an account to raise it.
The pic shows I have light pink Text selected, and the lighter my choice of colour is, the darker the Tab Bar text gets, on active Tab background doesn’t seem to get applied, and though the inactive Background does, neither Active, or inactive Tab Text works as intended.
I tried inverting the values, due to the go lighter/gets darker flaw, that did give a better effect, though it was a blue colour, not the very dark pink expected.
I suspect some negative inversion of the hex code is at play here, but it only seems to be active on the TabBars.
I’ve had no problems elsewhere, with modifying my tweaked styles to suit the dark mode, as they were dark mode tweaks long before dark mode became fashionable

Even though the user deleted their account before getting an answer, this was a good question.
As far as my experiments went, they were correct: In “light” mode, the text on the active tab’s title follows the foreground colour setting exactly. In Dark Mode, the text on the active tab’s title is some “inverse” of that, but not the normal “inverse”, so it is very hard to tell what the final color of the tab’s text will be, based on that setting.
If there is someone who is interested in getting that fixed, you should go to the Feature Request FAQ and follow those instructions to put in an official feature request. That official feature request should contain a link to this discussion (so that the developers know that it’s not just you who want the fix), and you should come back and put a link to that feature request in this discussion (so that readers here can find the issue, and see whether it is fixed in a future version of notepad++).
