      Hi,
it would be good that the File Dialog devoted to opening / saving the sessions would record the last visited folder.

      Thank you!

        See USER MANUAL.

The USER MANUAL link that @Alan-Kilborn provided did not jump to the right section of the web page for me. You may need to search on that page for Remember last used directory which likely is what you are asking for.

The link https://npp-user-manual.org/docs/preferences/#default-directory gets close to the stuff about Remember last used directory

@mkupper said in Open/Save File Dialog - Session:

            Jumped here for me:

            I guess mileage varies.

Note that prior to 8.5.5, this “last used directory” was not remembered across sessions. I.e., if you opened a file in directory A, then closed the session, then started a new session, the open/save file dialog would probably not start in directory A.

@Alan-Kilborn Apparently it’s Scroll To Text Fragment. It works on Chrome and Microsoft Edge which uses the Chromium engine. Unfortunately, Firefox both does not support it and using the feature causes undesirable behavior.

With Chrome and Microsoft Edge the URL
                https://npp-user-manual.org/docs/preferences/#default-directory:~:text=Remember last used directory
both scrolls or jumps to the selected text “Remember last used directory” and highlights that text.

Firefox is interpreting the entire string “default-directory:~:text=Remember%20last%20used%20directory” as the label or ID to look for and as there is no such thing Firefox leaves people at the top of the page.

The URL https://npp-user-manual.org/docs/preferences/#default-directory works in both Chrome and Firefox but then you don’t get the highlighting and it does not jump to the exact place.

Firefox developers have been resisting implementation of Scroll To Text Fragment. https://github.com/mozilla/standards-positions/issues/194

I tried, without success, to form a URL that allowed for the #default-directory jump in all browsers while also supporting the more focused Scroll To Text Fragment jump for those browsers that support it.

Thanks for the info. I’ll probably keep linking that way, though, as it is expedient for a lot of people (using other browsers) and is also fast for me to supply.
