            Backing up your Notepad++ files from your Mac to an external drive is a crucial step in maintaining a clean and organized digital workspace while ensuring the safety of your valuable data. Here’s a quick guide to help you with the process:

            Locate Your Notepad++ Files: Begin by opening Finder and navigating to the folder where your Notepad++ files are stored. These files are typically found in your user directory or within specific project folders.

            Select the Files: Click and drag your cursor to select the Notepad++ files you want to back up. Alternatively, you can use keyboard shortcuts like Command + A to select all files in a folder.

            Copy the Files: Once you’ve made your selection, right-click on the highlighted files and choose “Copy” from the context menu. You can also use the keyboard shortcut Command + C for copying.

            Connect the External Drive: Ensure that your external drive is connected to your Mac. If not, plug it in.

            Paste the Files: Open your external drive in Finder, right-click within the drive, and select “Paste” from the context menu, or simply use the keyboard shortcut Command + V. This action will copy the selected Notepad++ files to your external drive.

            Verify the Backup: Double-check the external drive to confirm that the files have been successfully copied, leaving you with a clean and organized backup of your Notepad++ files.

            By following these steps, you’ll maintain a clean and well-organized digital environment while ensuring your essential data is safely stored on an external drive.

                I cannot prove it, but I believe all the previous replies are AI/spammers (though the first is plausible enough), trying to give enough credulous-sounding answers to be able to earn an upvote, so that on their next post, they can post a spam link. (I’m not even convinced the original post wasn’t just fishing for an upvote.)

                Let this serve as an object lesson to readers of the forum: the spammers / AI-bots are getting better at trying to worm their way into being able to spam us with links.

                  Certainly, here are some basic steps you can follow to accomplish this task, as outlined below:

                  Identify the Data Directory for Notepad++.
                  Locate the specific Notepad++ Data Directory on your system.
                  Copy the data from Notepad++.
                  Transfer the copied data to an external drive.
                  Safely eject the external drive.
                  I hope this helps!

                    This topic is obviously just a trap for repetitive copy/paste replies or generated content, and has nothing to do with Notepad++ itself, so has been locked to prevent further meaningless replies.
