Can i always show active tab when editing autoscrolling tab bar if needed
-
sometimes I have many tabs opened , more than the width of the window can show, and yes there is the active tab indicator, but if I happen to decrease the window width, the indicator is hidden in the part of the window that is not shown, if i make any changes and want to save, I would like to see I am saving the correct document, I know the name is also shown in the window title, but its easier for me to just look at the active tab as I usually do when the window is full width.
would like very much if the tabbar automatically scrolled to show the active tab whenever I resize the window or at least whenever I click or type inside the editor area.

Would not the Window title be enough?
As you acknowledge, it does show. I’d think it’s more obvious to look there.

PS there is also the document list option (under View menu), but that would take up valuable real estate if you are limiting window width. It is undockable but not sure where else it would work well.

@aranapatona, On the keyboard hold the
Ctrl
key down and then doPageUp
PageDown
orPageDown
PageUp
(the order does not matter).Ctrl+PageUp
switches the active tab to the previous tab and thenCtrl+PageDown
goes to the next tab. Switching the active tab auto-scrolls the tab bar. There is also the multi-line tab bar. You can enable that via
Settings / Preferences / General (section) / Tab Bar area / Multi-line

If you want to work around it, switch to Multiline Tabs in the Preferences --> General --> Tabs. I switched to Multline Tabs some time ago because of the same reason like your complaint.
Maybe it is worth to file a bug report on Github, since I am not the only one observing this.

Oh, sorry, @mkupper … Just read your post to the end after my reply … You already mentioned Multiline

Since this is a real, it would definitely make sense to report it at GitHub, as described in our FAQ, otherwise the developer will never be made aware that people are seeing this.
