Closing an unsaved tab and losing (valuable) data
-
This post follows a recent discussion here where a user managed to close an unsaved tab and lose all their work. This is just one instance of many littering this forum. In most cases we can offer little hope of recovery.
I thought this discussion might be better as a new thread as it’s detracting from what is already been answered to the OP.
Alienating a portion of one’s user base is never a good idea so perhaps from this thread a new solution might show up. Then it would be up to the developers to take it on board.
Maybe the fix is to completely redesign the portion of code that covers this issue, but far be it for me to push for it.
If a tab has never been saved it is flagged such that closure without saving invokes a different “save as” dialogue. If the tab has previously been saved, even if sometime ago the closure without saving follows the current path. Now I realize this isn’t perfect as the unsaved tab could have been cleared and reused.
I will prepare for the onslaught of questions, or “but what ifs”.

Apparently there was no question, just someone seeking an upvote so they could spam…
Find something to do, losers, maybe go outside and enjoy nature…anything is better.
