Is there going to be an option to turn off the new (8.6) select/copy text?

I find the new select, control key down system a pain. I used to be able to select, control key down and then do multiple copies without lifting the control key each time. Now I have to lift the control key each time, click on the selection and put the control key down again.
I have three other editors for special software texts and none of those work this way, also MS word doesn’t work this way.
A switch to turn it off would be really nice.
In the meantime I’ll go back to 8.5 (reluctantly).
    Best wishes,
    Colin.

I find the new select, control key down system a pain.

In Notepad++ version 8.6.3 or later:

      Settings | Preferences | Editing 2:
      Uncheck Enable Multi-Editing (Ctrl+Mouse click/selection).

You do then give up the ability to multi-select when you want to. As far as I know, there is no option to have it both ways.

There wasn’t an option in 8.5 to multi select, so why use a key that was already in use? The shift key could have been used or even the Alt key? It would have then been possible to multi select and multi copy with the control key down.
