      For Notepad++ v8.8.6, if there is a file that is more than 1000 lines long, and line wrap is enabled, and line 1000 is longer than the screen width by only one character, and then scroll until line 1000 is at the bottom of the screen, then the text constantly wiggles back and forth horizontally by one character.

      Thank you for Notepad++!

        I do not see that. It is perfectly still for me, looking like the following screenshot, with no flashing:

        (yes, I know that my still screenshot wouldn’t show a wiggle… my point it, it looks still to me, just like a static screenshot does, no wiggle.)

        File size might have something to do with it: my screenshot shows I’m on line 1000 of a 1000 line file, with about 100000 characters. If you’ve got a lot of lines beyond the wrap margin, rather than just 1 like my example, maybe it would behave differently.

        Also, Settings > Preferences > Margins/Borders/Edge has the dynamic-vs-static width for line number display: maybe switching to static would solve your problem, so N++ isn’t trying to resize the margin as it goes from 999 to 1000 for you?

        If you share your ?-menu’s Debug Info, like I did, it might give some sort of clue. For example, if you have a lot of plugins, there might be a plugin interaction issue (in which case, the “Possible Culprit: Plugin” section of this FAQ may help you narrow down which plugin is the culprit. Also, sometimes there are issues with certain graphics card drivers, or similar such things, which is why that information is listed in the Debug Info: with all that information, one of the forum regulars who is better with that sort of problem will probably be able to give you some ideas.

          This is a known issue, reported several times. Here’s one of those times (that links to some others): https://github.com/notepad-plus-plus/notepad-plus-plus/issues/13341
