Search Dialog Adding `\r\n` to pasted search queries.
-
I’ve been using Notepad++ for quite some years, and I don’t know if something changed in a recent update, but I don’t recall this behaviour in the past. I can’t seem to find any search related preference or settings regarding this. But if I open the search dialog and type a query in, it works fine. But if I paste a query in and hit search, it is adding
\r\nto my query, switching the search mode from ‘Normal’ to ‘Extended’ automatically, and then there are no search results. I have to remove the\r\ntext and search again. Is there a way to prevent this from happening? It’s rather annoying and interruptive. -
Technically, until recently, N++ had been throwing away the newline sequence that you were unknowingly including when doing your search. It stopped throwing it away recently to fix another search-and-replace issue, which is why it appeared to you that it was “adding” it.
You might want to try the v8.9.1 Release Candidate (https://community.notepad-plus-plus.org/topic/27355/notepad-v8-9-1-release-candidate), which is trying to address that issue.

@PeterJones Thanks so much for the quick reply. Installing the release candidate fixed the issue for me. Much appreciated!
