Notepad++ release 8.9.7

Hi Donho i’m sorry but i don’t know if it’s only with this 8.9.7 npp version, but with my windows 10, the right click “edit with notepad++” doesn’t work.

That’s the reason, you have your N++ app set to run as admin, so Windows UIPI prevents communication from the unprivileged NppShell context menu.

What do you mean by “doesn’t work”?
A screenshot or a more accurate description may help us to understand your problem.

edit: My post is 10 seconds later than the post of @xomx - yes, that should be the source of the problem.

Hi, I’m so sorry for the late response. Thank you so much for the tip ! When I disabled “Run this program as an administrator” for the Notepad++ executable, “Edit with Notepad++” started working again.
Thanks for your help, and thank you for all the work you put into Notepad++.

Based on HELP on Macros - security issue? and Problem running a macro without any associated key combination, I would say that the Security Warning dialog needs to be slightly more explicit: now that the warning occurrs for both Run menu entries and for Macro menu entries, the message should change use “Validate shortcuts.xml” from the menu to confirm it to use “Validate shortcuts.xml” from the Run menu to confirm it, so that users can find that menu entry, whether they see the message from trying to do a saved Run command or a Macro.

Hello, i found an issue with the latest update, since then the working folder doesn’t expand. i tried to remove it and add it again with the same result, used local and network drives with the same result. downgraded until a fix is released. thank you

If I understood you correctly, you are talking about the “Folder as Workspace” feature, right? If so, that was reported multiple times in this forum and in the main issues (like #18226 and #18248), and is caused if you have symbolic links in your directories.

Unfortunately, when I look through the fixes in v8.9.8 Release Candidate, or look at the still-open issues, I am not sure that a fix for that problem made it into v8.9.8. That is rather unfortunate, as it was a major complaint with v8.9.7.
