Return to same line when switching tabs.
-
When I switch active tabs (i.e. move back and forth between files), when I return to a file, it goes to line #1 automatically. It is like I am opening the file for the first time.
I don’t recall this behavior before–I find it very annoying having to scroll or search to find the line I was working on. I am not closing or saving the file, I am just switching between files.
Is there a setting for returning to the same spot? Or this a bug? I noticed this after upgrading to 6.7.9.2
Not knowing if upgrading was the cause, I reinstalled an earlier version 6.7.8 and, no joy.
How do I make it remember where it was when I switch files?

I think I’ve seen this reported before (on Sourceforge) and it was determined that a plugin was malfunctioning. What happens if you turn off all plugins (rename C:\Program Files (x86)\Notepad++\plugins to something else temporarily)?

I believe it is due to XML Tools. Try disabling, “Set XML type automatically”

@dail thanks

Thank you!!

Well thanks from me as well.
I’ll download the 2.4.7 alpha and see if it works for my case as well.
Apropos bug-link: http://sourceforge.net/p/npp-plugins/bugs/270/

@dail: another thank you from me! I have been using Notepad++ and the XML tools plugin for years but this suddenly became an issue today for some reason. Disabling “Set XML type automatically” fixed it.

For quick tab switching I could recommend you my free open source plugin ‘NavigateTo’ - https://github.com/young-developer/nppNavigateTo/releases
