      Hello,

why are the transparency options for the find-and-replace dialog in that same dialog? Why not in the ordinary settings dialog? Is there really a number of users not sticking to one setting, but changing it a lot?

As for me, the transparency options could be removed from the dialog and be put into the ordinary settings dialog. That would make the dialog less complex and less multi-topical.

I agree. I rarely (read: never) adjust it. The less stuff in the Find/Replace dialog the better (this applies to lots of other dialogs too). It is very easy for dialogs to get very “busy” and distract a user.

Good to hear I’m not the only one feeling like this.

Also, if issues like “Multiline find-and-replace” and “Saved Find & Replace strings” get approved, the dialog would get some other GUI elements. So, cleaning up might be appropriate.

Here’s a reference for even more issues about the find-and-replace dialog: https://github.com/notepad-plus-plus/notepad-plus-plus/issues/449#issuecomment-135799762.

I’ve created an issue about this: https://github.com/notepad-plus-plus/notepad-plus-plus/issues/843.
