FYI: The auto-update has been triggered for this release.

The auto-update was triggered 2 days earlier than planned. Here’s why:

Notepad++ code signing certificate will expire in less than 10 days (2025/05/15). After that, there will be no new code signing certificate - at least not for an unknown period.

Having the current v8.8.1 release distributed to worldwide users allows us to identify regressions quickly. This give us enough time (hopefully) to fix them and release a regression-free update before the certificate expires. This is the best way to ensure the latest stable version is broadcasted worldwide.

Of course I’m trying to negotiate with DigiCert for a new certificate with the issuer name “Notepad++”, but I am not sure when we will get one - possibly never. Since Notepad++ is not a business entity (enterprise), all I have is a registered trademark and a Nonprofit Organization named “Notepad++”.
