@donho no, cannot replicate. I tried using UDL, non-UDL, re-starting NPP after changes etc. New tabs always follows current preferences settings

I upgraded existing install to 8.9.9 RC with npp.8.9.9.Installer.x64.exe

Yes, that is at least what I attempted to replicate.

I tried opening new tabs with language set at both UDL and non-UDL. In my case the new tabs (documents?) would always follow the current preferences setting for new document language. It would not incorrectly always use UDL.

Many thanks for this new release !

• Point 9 ( option to change dialog font and size ). I particularly like it : I’m getting old and my eyes too ! Thus, I’ll probably need it in the near future !

• Point 10 and 11 are useful and I immediately adopted the UP location for Incremental Search !

• Point 20 will certainly help some users, using UDL languages

• Point 21 help us to get a better control upon the current N++ session

• Point 26 will return more accurate results in counting or marking the regex occurrences

Now, I did a test with my portable N++ v8.9.9 x64 bits installation, in order to test the point 8 : Improve Find in Files performance.

The search, within an USB key, for the string Fi, with the match case and regex options, on all sub-folders returns 25,587 hits in 641 files of 1,149 files searched, for either :

• Notepad++, in 1 m 26 s

• Multi-replace, in 1 m 06 s

• Search++, in 2 m 10 s

Comparing with a previous identical test with N++ v8.9.8 in this post, I deduced that, for a very similar number of files, the N++ search took roughly 9 / 10 seconds less. So, a significant improvement !
