Notepad++ freezes

I have been using Notepad++ for a couple months and it has worked great until this past week. It keeps crashing and freezing up when I save or open files. When I try and close the program it will freeze. I think almost anything I do in it right now will make it stop working. I have to open task manager to get the app to close and then restart my computer. If I don’t restart the program will not open or respond at all. Please Help…

Just installed 6.8.3 in Win81 and hit the same thing. Any time I exit it hangs. I went back to 6.8.2 and did not experience the same behavior.
