      I would like to take all the carriage returns out of file. but the find and replace function does not seem to work for <cr>.

        Hello CMS-Machines,

        if you have the replace dialog open, in the left corner you will see Search Mode section.
        Check Extended and use \r\n for the carriage return chars.
