File search results, double clicking opens in new tab...
-
Sorry tried searching and nothing is coming up. When I do a search for something in a directory and double click the search result it opens the file in a new tab. The problem is sometimes I already have that file open and the search opens in a new tab so both are open and causes errors as i edit the newly opened tab…not saving changes or reverting when i switch back to the old tab. Having a few files open at a time isn’t a big deal but when you’re editing code across enough files that the tabs are hidden (10+ files).
Clicking again from the workspace opens that file tab but the search tab always goes to the tab it opens. I double checked the tabs and it’s reporting the same file path on both tabs. Is there a setting i’m missing?

Hello @Daniel-Deeds,
actually I don’t have the reported behaviour. If the file is already open, a double click in the search window
opens that file and NOT a new one. Which version do you use? Can you provide the debug info? (menu ?)
Maybe a screenshot with showing this behaviour?Cheers

I’m using the newest version (6.9). Yes it’s not opening a new file but the same file in a new tab. can’t upload an image here so here is a link (facebook so let me know if the FB compression is too much) screen shots. If you need anything else please let me know :)
opening the file from the desktop or workspace list always goes back to the first tab shown in the first screen capture, however, clicking on the search results always opens the new tab shown in the last screen capture. the same file in two different tabs.

Hello @Daniel-Deeds
thx for the screenshot. Just to make it clear. The first and second file
are BOTH from the UNC folder, aren’t they?
Can you post the debug info, which is available from the ? menu?Cheers

yes it’s the same file for both tabs, hovering over each tab verifies this too
debug info:
Notepad++ v6.9
Build time : Feb 21 2016 - 21:27:55
Path : C:\Program Files (x86)\Notepad++\notepad++.exe
Admin mode : ON
Local Conf mode : OFF
OS : Windows 7
Plugins : ComparePlugin.dll mimeTools.dll NppConverter.dll NppExec.dll NppExport.dll NppFTP.dll PluginManager.dll SpellChecker.dll XMLTools.dll -
Shot in the dark -> start npp as non admin?
In the meantime I will try to setup an environment similiar to yours.
Two questions, what os version is \\UNC-SERVER and what protocol is used? samba?Cheers
