shift tab un-indent only works at beginning of the line

hello, I’ve just installed the latest notepad++ but pressing shift tab ONLY un-indents if i am at the beginning of the line and if I try to use the shortcut it just tabs backward one tab worth of space.
i looked through the settings and my googlefu also failed miserably

do you use npp_exec, or python script plugin or any other plugin which is able to communicate
with the underlying scintilla component? If so, set or send a message that BackSpaceUnIndents should be true/used.Cheers
