Feature Request: Character Count

At present the vanilla NPP build does not support Counting, and the only Plugin that seems to support Counting is TextFX Characters, which adds Word Count but NOT Character Count.
Oddly, character counting in text files seems to be one of those things few offline tools support (most solutions are web-based) yet in a world of Twitter with an intrinsic character limit, the ability to prepare text offline when one has no connectivity ready for posting once connectivity becomes available would be any obvious Use Case.

Go to the View menu. Select “View Summary…”. In the resulting popup will be “Characters (without blanks)” and a number representing the same for your document.
The “blanks” it is referring to seems to be line-endings; it seems a better word could have been chosen rather than “blanks”.
