settings - preference - delimiter trouble

I would like cntrl double click to select all of the text between the two spaces. I’ve set my delimiter to a single space open and close and the behavior seems a bit random.
For example:
access-list, double click or cntrl double click only highlights list
TO-BUTLER, double click selects BUTLER, cntrl double click selects TO-BUTLER like I would expect.I’m not sure what else to try.
