Special Character "E" after editing large file

I was editing a large file and deleting some data at the end of the line that is not needed. I was using the Column editing function. After doing this I noticed that lines at the end of my file have an special character “E” and the the CR and LF are not working.
Couple of questions:

How do I remove the “E” character(s)?

What are these characters? errors?
