Notepad++ crashes with virtual desktop manager
-
Hi all,
I’ve been using Notepad++ for a long time. The same is true for my virtual desktop manager (goScreen). Now, with the latest version, or due to installing a few plugins (or for any other reason), Notepad++ crashes, when I switch between virtual desktops. In this case the virtual desktop manager hides or unhides the application window. Unfortunately Notepad++ can’t write out the dump file, because it tries to write to a subdir of “Program Files”, which needs Administrator access, which I usually don’t have on that machine. And if I run Notepad++ in Admin mode, it doesn’t crash in this case.
Does anyone have the same problem? Is there a way (Registry Settings?) to change the location of the dump file, so I could post it to the developers thread?
None of all the tons of other programs I use has ever had any problems with the desktop manager (just to rule that one out as the actual root cause).
Thanks!

I think the first order of business here is to rule out that this is a plugin problem. Rename C:\Program Files (x86)\Notepad++\plugins to something else temporarily and see if the problem still occurs.

Hi,
I checked the Event Viewer and found that Notepad++
crashed upon unloading the DSpellCheck.dll. So I uninstalled the spell check plugin.
Then Notepad++ crashed in its own exe. So I uninstalled Notepad++ completely, and manually removed what remained in the program folder (this I didn’t do last time I re-installed).
Then I installed it again. And now it doesn’t crash anymore. I hope it stays this way…
Sorry for bothering you with this.
Thanks anyway,
Gerhard
