all lines highlighted by default after update

just auto updated this morning and all lines of text are highlighted with every theme option.
I cannot figure out how to un-highlight all the text by default.I’ve tried changing the default background text without any success.
Has anyone experienced this change in default settings?

could it be that you installed a plugin which shows changes in a document?
To find out if a plugin is responsible, rename plugin directory temporarily and
then start notepad++.Cheers

thank you so much for the suggestion.
i deleted a few of the installed plugins and the problem immediately disappeared.
