Keep session when launching NPP but files don't exsit

How can I keep the session when launching NPP but those files don’t exist anymore?
For example,
I opened some files through SAMBA service which means those files are put on a server.
If SAMBA is available, the next time launching NPP will keep the session.
But if SAMBA isn’t available, the next time launching NPP, the session will not be kept anymore.In this case, NPP kept session and shown a pop-up information something like “This file doesn’t exist. Do you want to keep this file?” in an older version I used.
This function is gone in an upgrade.
Does anyone know how to re-open this function or which version I should downgrade to?
