XML Tools - XML Parsing Error points to wrong line

I use the XML Tools plugin to find incorrect characters in large (100MB +) files. XML Tools - “Check XML Syntax Now” has always been a perfect tool for this.
Recently I was presented with a file 54MB in size. it flagged an error as follows:“XML Tools Plugin
XML Parsing error at line 901530:
Extra Content at the end of the document”The tool pops to that location and no issue is there.
After struggling to understand the issue, I chopped the file in two. When I ran the same test on the smaller front end of the file (34MB), it flagged an error as follows:
“XML Tools Plugin
XML Parsing error at line 67545:
xmlParseCharRef: invalid xmlChar value 26”The tool pops to that location and the issue is obvious.

<tran_desc1>Alana�s Taxi</tran_desc1>I have never needed to chop these files down in order to find these issues. Please advise.
