      I have been attempting every avenue to do this. I’ve done the right-click > Open With, does not set. I’ve tried the Default Programs in Windows 10 control panel, did not set. Even trying assigning it by file type, it does not set.

      Followed the steps in this guide as well: https://notepad-plus-plus.org/community/topic/13051/set-notepad-as-default-app-in-windows-10

      Still not setting at all. Can’t for the life of me figure out why this is happening. Even my IT department can’t figure it out. Please help.

        My best advice to you is to look at my response to an almost-identical question 10 days ago: https://notepad-plus-plus.org/community/topic/16456/windows-10-associate-to-txt/6

        (I’m surprised your IT department couldn’t figure out a workaround: file associations are pretty easy manual registry edits for those experienced in the registry.)

          @Stephen-Blancher

          You are using Windows 10 1803? There seems to be a bug introduced with the 2018-10 Windows updates, see here.
