NotePad++ Keeps changing my numbers into symbols or letters?
-
Whenever I try and type and number it just changes those numbers into a letter or a symbol!
-
is there any plugin installed ?
Could you provide the debug info (via menu ?->Debug Info…) -
if you are using the number keys above the letters and get some symbols, maybe your caps lock is pressed or stuck ?
(the key above the left shift key)
what happens if you press it, changing the mode ignoring the led indicator ? -
No my caps lock is off

If you use just plain old vanilla Notepad (Windows default), does the same thing occur. This will establish whether a Windows environment issue or localized to Notepad++.Also, does typing the same number each time give the same symbol. Perhaps if you could type some numbers and then present to us the number and what symbol results from that. I’m thinking you may have some setting which is interpreting the numbers and giving back a symbol based on a code page perhaps?

@Terry-R It lets me type numbers in windows notepad but in notepad ++ it just gives symbols also yes it gives the same symbol per number. I also don’t know much about notepad because I am new to it.

can you check your fonts in notepad++ if you have any special font with symbols set as your default font, instead of courier new ?
you can check and change your default font here:
settings > style configurator
click on “global styles”
click on “default style”on the right hand you will find the section “font style” where “font name” is your default font.
it should be courier new -
@Meta-Chuh it is
