index.html when opened doesn't display the code I wrote...

Hi,
I created an index.html page ( as well as a style.css page) and wrote code in it. When I open index.html with a browser (Chrome, Opera, etc) some of the code doesn’t show up. For example, images don’t display. The image is saved in the same folder as the index.html file. Fontello icons are not showing up either and I followed a tutorial on youtube how to import them so I know I’m doing it right.
Can someone please help?
I really want to create a website but I can’t. The same thing happens with Atom, Brackets and of course Notepad++.

It is a Notepad++ question because I am using Notepad++ to create my code. I am writing the code in the editor, using File–> Save As to save the file. Then when I open the file the code is missing.

Seems like something above the Notepad++ level if it happens with several editors. Tough to say without more to go on…

If a browser doesn’t show a HTML page like you expect, it could be that your code is wrong (e.g. image paths) and that’s not the fault of the editor you write the code with.

@dinkumoil : Thanks for clarifying. I took it as “when I open the file in Notepad++ the code is missing” but it makes more sense that it would be missing when the OP opens it in a browser.
BTW, @Wiktor-Kredzinski , “It is a Notepad++ question because I am using Notepad++ to create my code” – this is NOT a true statement…if you read my earlier link you hopefully realize you are baking cookies. :-)

To be perfectly clear, here’s the “idiom” – of my own invention – that I meant (but yours are much much better!):
If you are still unclear on why your question was judged to NOT be Notepad++ -related, have a read of this example scenario:
I used Notepad++ to type up a cookie recipe so that I could print it out. Then I baked the cookies, but they didn’t turn out! Who can tell me why?
Clearly, no one here could realistically be expected to help. Now maybe there are some cooks here that are also Notepad++ experts, but really there would be a better place than this to ask baking questions.
