Any way to bypass CURRENTWORD_MAXLENGTH when using NPPM_GETCURRENTWORD to retrieve selected text?

It seems to be limited to 2,048 characters.
Alternatively, is there a better way to retrieve the selected text beyond using NPPM_GETCURRENTWORD?
