      How to install webedit plugin? Why is it not visible in the toolbar? Although it is installed through the plugin manager and manually installed.

        Create a new directory with the name of the webedit …and put the file in it webedit.dll

          ++@andrecool-68 got it right.

          To add some context: if you have Notepad++ v7.5.9 or earlier, then the Plugin Manager should install plugins into the right location. However, if you have v7.6.3 (*) or later, then Plugin Manager is no longer compatible with the updated plugin directory structure, and you should use the built-in Plugins Admin to install plugins in the correct location. To manually install plugins in v7.6.3 and later, if the plugin DLL is called SuperNiftyPlugin.dll, then you need to create a subdirectory in the plugins directory called SuperNiftyPlugin\ , and place the DLL (and any accompanying files) in that directory, so it ends up as plugins\SuperNiftyPlugin\SuperNiftyPlugin.dll

          *: footnote: don’t bother with versions v7.6, v7.6.1, or v7.6.2: various locations were in a state of flux for those versions, and they weren’t very stable. If you get something set up in one of those versions, it will not work in any version going forward. Changes had quieted down by v7.6.3, and directory structure is compatible with 7.6.3 and 7.6.4 (and it looks like that structure will be consistent going forward).

              On a “meta” note (no, not @Meta-Chuh !) I dislike those animated gifs that play on a loop. I rapidly loose track of where the start of that sucker is, so I just get more confused the longer I watch it. This one was especially confusing because of the non-English. Posters, please put some time in any such animations where the mouse isn’t moved (and no other actions is going on)–this will help us remember where the start (end?) is. :)

                  @andrecool-68 ,

                  There are editors out there that can change animated gifs after they’ve been generated. TheGimp, for example. Also, the ScreenToGif that I use for capturing animated screenshots allows you to edit things before writing it to a gif - adding/reordering/deleting frames, changing durations, and more; I haven’t tried editing starting from an animated gif rather than from its internal capture format, but I think it can handle that.

                  If you’re able to edit it, and post it to imgur under the same URL, then it will auto-update in your post.

                  I agree with @Alan-Kilborn: I try to remember to add a 1s delay to the last frame, though I probably forget more often than I remember. But I am now going to try to remember to add actual start/stop indicators, not just a long delay of the last frame.

                    @andrecool-68

                    i like your videos, or animated gifs in general.

                    to all:

                    i usually stare a long time at animated gifs, until i know where it begins.
                    (of course i could just reload the page … but that would be less relaxing, than to stare at it 😉 )

                    to improve that, we could make a title picture with our names or logos in it, and add this as a 1 second title animation at the beginning to all our gif videos.
                    a lot more work, but i think this could be nice.

                      @Alan-Kilborn & @andrecool-68 :

                      I just verified:

                      1. I can edit an animated .gif with ScreenToGif – so whether you use it to do the original capture or not, it is possible to use it to edit the animated gif after the fact. You can use the Editor > File > Media to insert an image before or after the selected frame.
                      2. I cannot re-upload an image to imgur under the same URL; so I cannot go back and edit old images so that they show up with my animation end-card frame in existing posts.

                      Thus, going forward, I will try to use my endcard for ~1s at the end of each animated gif, but I cannot go back and fix existing ones (since mortals cannot edit old posts beyond the 3min mark)

                        To see where the animation starts and ends, you can add a progress bar at the bottom (Screen To Gif \ Image \ Progress)

                          i guess it’s no big deal, as i only meant future videos anyways. (past videos didn’t even cross my mind, but i forgot to write the word “future”). but you are correct. i just went to imgur and checked that at one of my old pictures by pressing edit and …
                          … nada … absolutely nada we can do there, except cropping or rotating it.

                            This sounds like it solves the “problem” and is the easiest thing to do. Hopefully posters adopt it.

                            Although…I was envisioning any “videos” created by @Meta-Chuh ending with a 1.5s pause on his “family photo”. :)

                              I tried the progress bar in ScreenToGif, and while for some reason I could not change its color (it defaults to an ugly but noticeable black), it definitely does the intended job. It appears to take up space in the actual “video”, however, so be sure to leave a bit of extra room at the bottom while recording so that the bar doesn’t cover up anything you are trying to show to make a point.

                                  (ScreenToGif) Black color is the most stable.
