      Microsoft Windows [Version 10.0.17134.885]
      notepad++ 7.7.1 32-bit Jun 16 2019

      Look in quick access or libraries the view menu is tiles. Look in anything else it is list.
      Change it to list and npp will not remember it.
      Any solution?
      Thanks.

        Those are Windows-standard dialog windows, from Windows-standard libraries. There is nothing Notepad++ can do to influence those Microsoft-created libraries.

        However, you may have more luck getting Windows to remember your settings by going to to the Notepad++ Settings > Preferences > Default Directory and setting ☑ Use new style dialog.

              I realized it was a Microsoft problem after I posted but thanks to your reply I have an even better solution.
              You were right, changing to “new style dialog” caused Windows to remember my view menu list selection.
              I don’t like the new style dialog so I turned it off and so far Windows remembers my view menu list setting in quick access and libraries.

                I believed the OP when it was said “Change it to list and npp will not remember it.”, which I took it to mean that OP had tried changing the setting by that pulldown, and it wasn’t remembered for the next time.

                Fortunately, the OP has apparently found a solution.

                    Windows 7 is not identical to Windows 10. Some of the changes to the file Explorer and the various builtin dialogs (like the ones mentioned) were some of the things that bothered me when I first switched from 7 to 10. And I still notice that 10 doesn’t “remember” some of my Explorer settings as reliably as I would like.

                    Fortunately, the OP has apparently found a solution.

                      That said, I decided just try to switch over to old-style dialogs and check that out… when I did, I could change from the tiles to the details view, and Windows did remember it for me even after exiting and re-running Notepad++. But there may be other Win10 settings that affect whether or not it remembers.

                      I’m back on new-style now, because that’s what I now prefer.
