I just set up a new Win10 computer and installed NPP 7.7.1 64-bit on it. I’m trying to install the plug-ins I used on my old installation, but I’m failing. Plugins Admin comes up fine, and I click on the plug-in(s) I want and click Install. As expected, NPP goes down and I get the “need Admin permission” dialog, which I approve. It waits for a while, and NPP comes back up, but the plug-in is not there. I check the plug-in directory, and only the default plug-ins are in place. Plugins Admin still shows the plug-in as available to install. Any suggestions?

My research suggested this might be related to AutoUpdate somehow, but AutoUpdate is enabled. I am behind a firewall and my company uses a proxy server. I tried to put in the proxy information into the Updater proxy, but it doesn’t seem to hold there. However, that problem has been there for a long time, so I’m not at all confident it’s related to the plug-in installation failure.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

      Best regards,
      Chris Loschen

Have you tried to start Notepad++ with administrative credentials before setting the proxy data?

Thanks @dinkumoil. I hadn’t tried setting NPP into admin mode. When I did, not only would it allow me to set my proxy data, it then allowed me to install all of my plug-ins too. Problem solved – thank you very much!
