The file cannot be saved and may be protected. Do you want to launch Notepad++ in Administrator mode?
-
I created a new file in Notepad++, entered text and tried to save it. I tried to save it in one of my own folders within My Documents. I got the error message “The file cannot be saved and may be protected. Do you want to launch Notepad++ in Administrator mode?”
I am running a standard Windows account, not admin. When I tried to start in Administrator mode, it started Notepad++ from my Administrator login and it only saw files in the administrator’s login. How can I fix this? I’ve never had this problem with the app and I’ve used it for years.

If I go to the place I want to save the file in Explorer, right-click and create new text file, and then open it, it saves with no error. The error only occurs when creating the new file within Notepad++.

You won’t like this, but I’ll tell you what I do. Occasionally this happens to me as well, no rhyme or reason for it. I cancel the prompt box and then attempt to save the file again. It has never failed to save it, and the second try never has generated the same prompt box about admin mode again.
