      Windows 10 Enterprise
      V7.7.1 (64 bit)
This started just recently. NPP can edit and save everywhere except MS Onedrive folders. MS Notepad is able to save. Other apps can open and save their respective files. The file in question is not being synced while I edit it. It is not open in another program.

      Steps to reproduce:
Edit any text file on Onedrive using NPP.
      Save the file.
      Save fails with
“The file cannot be saved and it may be protected. Do you want to launch Notepad++ in Administrator mode?”

So I close and reopen the file with NPP in Admin mode.
      Edit and Save.
      Save fails with
“Please check if this file is opened in another program.”

@Tom-Recane - FYI I was unable to reproduce on my system (v7.7.1 (both 32-bit and 64-bit) on Windows 10 Pro 64-bit Build 1903).

What Win 10 build number is your system running? Is it an Enterprise SOE build? If so, is there anyone else in your company using Notepad++ who you can check to see if it is a common problem in your company or specific to your computer?

          From Settings/About
          Edition Windows 10 Enterprise
          Version 1809
          Installed on 4/22/2019
          OS build 17763.615

I verified that a co-worker is having the same issue. We all get the same image put on our laptops.

My guess is it is something to do with your company’s setup. Could be the PC build, the way OneDrive has been configured, the internet firewall/proxy connection.

Sorry I can’t be of more help but it looks like you may be stuck with having to work around it by copying from OneDrive to your local hard-drive (e.g. desktop), edit using Notepad++ there, then copy back to OneDrive.
