Updating to 7.8

I am running 7.7.1 on two computers. Updating from within Notepad++ shows no updates available. The website shows 7.8 released on 2019-10-11. The big change appears to be “Upgrade Scintilla from 4.1.4 to 4.2.0” In the past, when there have been big changes in Notepad++, for example the change in the plugins location which caused some confusion for a while, updating from within was disabled and downloading the installer was required. Have you updated to 7.8 yet and how has the update gone for you? In particular, how does the “Upgrade Scintilla from 4.1.4 to 4.2.0” effect already installed plugins?

I’m using 7.8 but I’m using portable versions only so can’t say something about installation procedure.
The biggest differences for plugins is that those are able now to load their
dlls from within the plugin directory but it is not forced that the plugin does it.
In short, I did not experience any plugin problems but have to admit, that I do not use so many different plugins.
