    Here I go again with possible Windows 7 vs. Windows 10 issues…

    I’ve previously discussed issues with NPP seemingly behaving differently on my two different machines. I have the good old TextFX plugin installed for both copies. (Yes, I know it’s very old and no longer updated, but I do use a handful of its features.) A few days back, I reinstalled NPP, and some of the plugins, due to issues with those particular plugins not being recognized as installed. TextFX was not among those I was having trouble with at the time, but since then, it no longer appears as its own menu with numerous sub-menus on my Windows 10 machine. Instead, it’s now a sub-menu of the Plugins menu, and ALL dozens of TextFX menu items appear within Plugins > TextFX (no further sub-menus), which is fairly painful to scroll through. On my Windows 7 machine, TextFX continues to be its own menu, with sub-menus. Any ideas?

      Hello, @m-andre-z-eckenrode and All*,

      Oh ! It’s been a really long time since I’ve been using TextFX but I think I remember the trick to put all the TextFX menus separated from the “Plugins” menu ! Simply :

      • Tick the TextFX > TextFX Settings > Move quickmenus out of the 'Plugins' menu option

      => You get the message : Next time you load Notepad++, quick menus will be separated!

      • Exit and restart Notepad++

      • Now, you should see, between the Run and Plugins menus, the three additional menus TextFX, TextFX Quick and TextFX Viz ;-))

      Remarks :

      • Of course, the NPPTextFX.dll must be located in a new NppTextFX folder, located in the ...\Plugins folder

      • The NppTextFX.ini file is placed in folder ...\Plugins\Config

      Best Regards,

      guy038

        @guy038 said in TextFX menu:

        • Tick the TextFX > TextFX Settings > Move quickmenus out of the 'Plugins' menu option
        • Of course, the NPPTextFX.dll must be located in a new NppTextFX folder, located in the ...\Plugins folder
        • The NppTextFX.ini file is placed in folder ...\Plugins\Config

        Thanks much for the suggestion, and both NPPTextFX.dll and NppTextFX.ini were already in their proper locations, but changing that setting unfortunately made no difference on the Windows 10 machine. It does make the change you describe on my Windows 7 machine, but TextFX was already its own menu on that one.

          In case this information is ever useful to anyone else, I’ve noticed that TextFX on my Windows 10 machine is back to being its own menu, and no longer a sub-menu of Plugins. The only things I recall having changed since I had the menu trouble are that I’ve removed the plugin Pork2Sausage, and I’ve installed the new NPP v7.9.0. Not sure if either of those were factors, but maybe.
