TextFX Date & Time - short format not working
-
I just upgraded to Notepad++ v7.9.5 (64bit). Now when I try to insert I:Date & Time - short format all I get is a 1. I like to use CTR-SHIFT-D shortcut for this but needless to say no method to insert Date and Time works now. TextFX appears on the upper menu lines and the entries are in TextFX Insert but they don’t work. I need this function back as it has always worked in all the previous versions and I have been a Notepad++ user for so long I don’t remember when I used the Windows Notepad.
Could someone please advise me on how to restore this function? -

Short answer would be to downgrade to the version you used which worked. As this is a plugin it remains for the developer of that plugin to fix the issue. Looking at the plugin list it would seem that plugin was dated about 2009. That suggests that it may have been abandoned.
Do some searching on this forum, there may be other posts on this and possibly someone may have suggested a replacement plugin. Otherwise look at the list of plugins to see if any one might fill the need.

Take a look at this post for some other ways to solve the issue.
Take care and have fun!

@Terry-R Thanks for the ideas, Terry. I appreciate the time you took to consider my inquiry and reply. I never imagined that a plugin this important would have been abandoned but that must have been the case.

I never thought of TextFX as important, and I always felt it didn’t “fit well” with Notepad++ and other plugins. What I mean is it always had an awkward “look and feel”.
I think there are alternate user builds of TextFX out there, but I would be cautious in seeking them out and using them. This plugin, being so old, probably doesn’t consider UTF-8 data correctly in all regards (heck, even base Notepad++ still has issues sometimes with that, although it continues to get better).

@astrosofista Thank you so much for pointing me to the thread that solved the problem! In that thread there was a posting that outlined these steps to restore the hot key date and time function in my latest version of Notepad++. This is it:
"This solution just WORKS!!!
PLUGINS - > Plugins Admin
[Available] tab
Notepad++ Plugin Demo- Install Button
(popup dialog about NPP will be restarted… Continue?) - Yes Button
**** To add as shortcut [SHIFT] + F5 ****
RUN - > Modify Shortcut/Delete Command
[Plugin commands] tab
DOUBLE CLICK on Date Time - short format
SHIFT + (pulldown F5) - OK button
- CLOSE button"
- Install Button

@Alan-Kilborn Thanks for taking the time to reply to my inquiry. I agree that in the past TextFX is awkward. It used to work to give me the date time function and permitted hot keys to be used. Now it just doesn’t work the way it used to. But I did find a solution in another thread that works for me in my current incarnation of Notepad++ v7.9.5 which I posted here in a reply to astrosofista.
