      When I do a find and attempt to close the dialog box it keeps re-opening. I close it and it opens back up again multiple times. I have tried uninstalling and removing settings. Uninstalling and then cleaning every entry I can find in the registry along with anything notepad++ on the drive. Installing the latest 32bit version. Installing the latest 64bit version. Nothing seems to clear this issue.

        @James-Dunn-0 ,

        I’ve been using the most recent version (v7.9.5) on a daily basis since it came out in March, and that’s never happened to me.

        My guess is that your Windows is getting into a strange mode – maybe you held down a Ctrl or Alt key too long, and the OS has gotten into an “accessibility” mode, where it pretends the Ctrl or Alt key is always pressed, so when you type an F, it’s interpreted as Ctrl+F, and thus opens back up. Or something else like that – some other background application that is intercepting keystrokes or sending keystrokes. Or maybe you have a plugin that is doing something strange. Of course, if you had shared your ?-menu Debug Info, we would know exactly what version, rather than a vague assertion of “most recent”, and we would know what plugins you have installed, if any beyond the defaults.

        You could try to download one of the portable zip editions , and unzip into some non-standard directory (like onto your Desktop) and run Notepad++ from there, and see if that version also has the problem. The results of that experiment would help us debug the problem.

        But I’ve never seen this, and I’ve never seen anyone else in the last two months mention something like this, so I doubt it’s Notepad++ by itself causing the problem.

          @James-Dunn-0 so where can files still rest ? in program-folders , in (win 7) C:\Users"your username"\AppData\Roaming\Notepad++ , or did you once install it for all users on the machine . sure you checked that , and know that windows can hide files . please copy your debug-info into here .

              @carypt I tried removing all plug-ins with Plugin Admin to see if that helps. No luck

                @James-Dunn-0 And have tried the portable version as well. Same results so it seems highly likely that it is not Notepad++. Strange thing is it is only happening with Notepad++

                  @PeterJones Think I have found the culprit. Stardock WindowBlinds. If I disable that, the issue disappears.
