@원할머니보쌈 said in function i need..:

I am not 100% certain what you are trying to say – the translation from your native tongue to English may not have expressed the concepts fully. But I think you’re saying that you would like to be able to click and drag to get a tab from view2 to move to view1 or vice versa.

If so, then congratulations, you can; that’s the way that Notepad++ two views work: you can drag a tab from one view to the other (1); or you can click on the tab’s title and select “move to other view” (2) (or however it’s phrased in your localization); or you can use View > Move/Clone Current Document > Move to other view (3) – any of those will work.

Ah, while giving it a try, one thing you have to watch out for during the click-and-drag is that if you try to drag the document onto the tab-title bar for the other view, it will give you a “not here” symbol like dbc4478f-f2a2-43cc-8fbb-a6c901884d7c-image.png … but if you click-and-drag into the editor pane for the other view, you will get a more friendly image 1bf9f940-6ab0-4233-a7a4-e3b7e6ee8303-image.png , which indicates you can drop it there. You can watch this animation below to see the three “move to other view” options in action. Hopefully that will help, even if your translation of my English doesn’t get all the points across exactly the way I intended.

          Hello, @원할머니보쌈, @peterjones and All,

In addition to the 3 methods, provided by Peter, here is a 4th method, which works, whatever, the secondary view is present or not :

          • With a left mouse click, select the tab which you want to move or clone in the other view => the tab’s contents is automatically displayed, of course

          • Keeping the left mouse button down, drag the mouse down, in its present’s editor pane => You should see the yellow icon, shown in Peter’s post

          • Immediately, release the left mouse button => a tiny panel should pops up, with two options, only :

          Move to Other View
          Clone to Other View

Choosing one of the two options :

          • Open the secondary view first, then move or clone the selected tab in this secondary view, IF the secondary view did not exist, yet

          • Move or clone the selected tab in this secondary view, IF the secondary view was already present

          Best Regards,

          guy038
