If installing using the EXE file (not the “portable” version), then there are 2 folders which need to be removed. One is under Program Files (or Program Files x86) depending on which version x86 or x64 you installed. Most of this should be removed as part of the uninstall process via Windows, Settings, Apps, uninstall. So after uninstalling check for that folder and remove it if it still exists.

However the 2nd folder is in a hidden area. It’s easiest to find it by typing %appdata% into File Explorer and pressing enter key. You should be presented with several folders, one of which is the Notepad++ folder. This is generally where any customised settings you have created will reside. Delete this folder and then you will be ready to try installing again.

Thank you for the comment. I do believe I installed using the portable version. Are any of the instructions just given changed in this case?

Yes as the portable version contains all customisations within its “installed” folder. So you just need to delete that folder to clear out the installation. That’s the beauty of the portable version, it’s self-contained.

So your original post was a bit sparse on details, are you having a problem getting Notepad++ to run? If so what sort of problem? Can you provide the Debug Info, use ? menu, then “debug info” which can be copied and pasted here.
