    Hi there,
    I am running version 8.3.3 of Notepad++ (64 Bit) and version 2.0.2 of Compare Plugin.
    Is there any way to save the output of the comparison to a file showing the differences between the two files?
    Thanks.
    Regards,
    David

      @david-findlay ,

      As you can tell by the silence, none of the regulars know of a way to output that with the plugin as currently implemented. The real purpose of the Compare plugin is to implement the graphical/visual difference inside Notepad++.

      For getting the difference of two files output to a file, there are a plethora of tools – there are windows ports of the gnu linux diff command-line utility, and version control tools like subversion and git have diff capabilities which could write the differences to another.

      That said, @pnedev is nearing completion on Compare Plus, which will have a major backend update. Once that’s released, if it doesn’t have an “export” feature, you might want to put in a feature request (but I’d suggest not putting it in until he’s got the initial ComparePlus released – I don’t want anything to slow down getting an official release of that, since we’ve been waiting so long on it)

        Apologies for being very late to this party, but I was exactly looking for an answer to this question.
        I wanted to share my workaround for not being able to export comparison results in Notepad++. I used the compare function in MS Word instead, which achieved this.
