NppTextViz plugin no longer working
-
More for completeness I guess unfortunately, since it’s a plugin so not maintained here…
I love Notepad++ generally and use it heavily. Until now, I found one of the most useful plugin functionalities to be the ability to hide/show lines based on their content and then work with them exclusively, or just filter down to find information without permanently editing.
Originally, this was available from the TextFX plugin, which was abandoned long ago (see FAQ Desk: How do I Replicate the Features of TextFX?).
Thankfully, Jakub Dvorak created a new NppTextViz plugin compatible with later versions of Notepad++ including x64, based on Chris Severance’s earlier work. ( @peterjones if you want to update the FAQ.)
Unfortunately, that new plugin too no longer seems to be compatible with the latest versions of Notepad++ (after 8.2.1) and seems to have been abandoned (see Notepad++ 8.4.2 Crashes When trying to hide lines.
It would be wonderful if someone who actually knows how (which is definitely not I) could update the plugin.

Use this new adpated version for 8.4.3+:

NppTextViz seems to be abandoned by its owner, but someone posted the commits containing the fix here (it works with newest Notepad++ as of now):
https://github.com/KubaDee/NppTextViz/pull/5/commits
The compiled x86 and x64 binaries containing the fix are avaiable here:

Check them with VirusTotal prior to copying to Notepad++ plugin dir if you have any doubts.
If posting such URLs is breaking any community rules, please tell me where else I can upload the files.
Have a good one!
