      I only see associate yo,ur <Insert Site> account options.
This is a serious privacy concern.

Just because I have a Google eMail, doesn’t mean I want to give them access to this forums data on me, or GitHub.

I don’t use any Social Media crap, for privacy reasons, and I expected to be able to sign up to the forum with a seperate password, not this crappy method of no choice but link accounts I never ever want linked.

Why is this Forum not using the SOP, for Forum accounts since the dawn of the internet.

I think I’ve found a way to retroactively do so, by setting a site password, but I haven’t tried to login with it, YET.

I have disassociated my google account, so if I can’t login with that password, my forum use will be over.

I was also forced to do the same ass backwards workaround, by first giving N++ email spamming rights, only to find I could deny it in the settings menu.

WTF is going on, both options should be offered up front, with a direct forum sign up, not be forced on, only to find out they can be reversed, but only if you bother to look hard enough.

I don’t mind such options existing, but only when you give me a choice not to use them, at the same time, not hiding those choices in settings menus.

@PeterJones my issues are privacy, and as I said I don’t use any social media for just these reasons, not security, which is still better served by separation of passwords, regardless of risk, a single compromised password for an obscure Forum, with an gmail account used for just that purpose.

All my important financial emails are different, NOT GMail accounts.

What password have I even changed, in the user settings then, it appears to be a site specific password, and gives no other indication otherwise.

The original user appears to have deleted their account.

Had they stayed, my response would have been that privacy is addressed in the FAQ. And as mentioned there, it is simple enough to sign up for an account with one or more of the OAUTH providers that gives the OAUTH provider no private information, so that the OAUTH provider cannot provide this Community Forum with any private information.

For future readers: changing the password does nothing, because there is no username/password login available. (The forum software will not allow us to hide that setting)
