Compare Navigation Bar is awol

My Compare Navigation Bar is nowhere to be found on screen.
I’m sure it was visible the last time I used the function - a few weeks back.I’ve tried everything I can think of;
- It is checked under Plugins>Compare>Navigation Bar. The Project Panel, Document Map, Function List items all appear on the left side of my Notepad++ interface.
Is it possible for the Compare Navigation Bar to be on but collapsed in some way that it won’t come out and play?
I’ve unistalled the app - removed my settings AFAIK, downloded the previous version, installed, rebooted, tried everything I can think of. Still not to be found.
The compare function seems to work - differences are highlighted, I just do not see the overall document/navigation bar.
Am I missing something obvious - like “press the Fx key (dummy)!”? Or is this a sign of a problem… in Notepad++, or the Compare Plugin?
Thanks for looking!

Hmm. after a rabbit hole or two, I see reference to a docking manager. And there is supposed to be in a config.xml file in %AppData%\Notepad++\config.xml - but there isn’t one.
And that’s after an uninstall/reinstall. And I just repeated the exercise… and again, there’s no config.xml file to be found.
So: off to my backups; found one … and restored it. And now my Compare Nav Bar has shown up. FYI.
Seems to me config.xml is not be (re) created on install. or maybe first run? hmm…

I get that you seemed to have had an issue, and now you have overcome it. Possibly the reason no-one has tried to help you is that we have no idea which version of Notepad++ you are using. Nor do we know if it was an official download location you received the installer from or even if you are running the portable version.
Possibly it would be beneficial for you to read up some of the FAQ posts such as:
- crashes/unresponsive. Yes I am aware it doesn’t seem relevant but there is also information in this post covering some aspects of your issue.
- Appdata shortcut. Again relevant information to help you.
There is lots of good information on this forum. And as I said, you haven’t relayed much information so if you were to provide your debug info (read the linked posts) then you might get some responses.
