Missing from recent updates?

2 features I enjoy are now missing from recent updates. The first is the txt file extension is no longer added to a new file when saving. The second is the update/reload the file prompt when a file changes on the drive.
Are these feature in some hidden options that I can turn back on, or do we need another update to get them added back to the program?

Nothing has changed recently in Notepad++ with this feature (current version as of this writing is 8.5.4).
Perhaps you have your settings for this feature set so that it isn’t performing like you think it should? I believe these are default settings:
