      The larger I drag the Notepad++ window, the worse the scrolling performance gets. Admittedly, I’m on a 4K monitor, but other programs don’t have scrolling issues on the same system either.

      When Notepad++ is maximized, scrolling is really unpleasant java-ish slow.

      Is there any setting I can try to improve scrolling performance?

        @DavidG2P ,

        Assuming you’ve got a huge file that is being syntax highlighted, Settings > Preferences > Performance has settings that were created for just such an occasion.

          Not sure if it’s huge. It is just Python with some 500 lines.

          Wait, it seems to be better now. Maybe I had a problem on my PC.

          However, I must say that, of all things, Microsoft Word 2003 scrolls way, way smoother even with massive amounts of text in the order of tens of thousands of lines, no matter if it is formatted or colored or whatever kind of text 💁🏼‍♂️

            That’s not a fair comparison.

            Notepad++ is a text editor and is free
            Word is a word processor and costs money

            And they are both aimed at different markets.

              Agree.

              Also, Word scrolls the text “dumb”, while Notepad++ looks out for all sorts of things all the time, like matching brackets relative to cursor (and stuff).

              Anyway, since I admire Notepad++ so much, I had thought that also the scrolling performance must be world class. It probably is, taking all its capabilities into account.
