Spellchecker not underlining errors

I run NPP on two systems; on one, misspelled words are underlined with a squiggle; on the other, not. Both are the 32-bit versions of NPP, though I tried the 64-bit version without effect.
The settings appear the same, except that the “Language” dropdown list is grayed out and unavailable on the failing version.
How can I get the spell-checker to spell-check? -
@ronsipherd Never mind; I found that the English (United States) dictionary was missing.
