Currently (8.6.9) not changeable; it’s been a requested fix for almost six years; see https://github.com/notepad-plus-plus/notepad-plus-plus/issues/5087

But now it appears as if the Notepad++ developer is working on it: https://github.com/notepad-plus-plus/notepad-plus-plus/commit/21e5350f900d91806ae0acdbf8ec4ff02ad282e1

And now it seems to be complete; there should be configurable colors in the next version of Notepad++.

there should be configurable colors in the next version of Notepad++.

Today I installed a new version. I set the color in “Find status: Message”, but after restarting the blue color returns, although my color is specified in the settings.

I can confirm this feature new to 8.7 is not working correctly, always.
I assigned new colors to the three styles, and while initially they seemed respected, now I’m back to the usual red/blue/green coloring for Find status: Not found, Find status: Message, and Find status: Search end reached, respectively. Although, the Style Configurator still shows my new color choices.

I just started N++ for the day, so I’m not sure if a exit/restart cycle is necessary to expose the problem.

Can others confirm some funkiness with this new feature?

By the way, I’m evaluating this is default “light” mode, not “dark” mode.

I set the color in “Find status: Message”…

It’s rather vague as to which type of Find window status bar messages this refers to.
It’s typically the replacement operation messages, but, for ease of testing, it is also the color of “count” operation results.

I don’t know if it’s necessary or not, but when I changed the colors (in light mode stylers.xml), they initially worked; but when I restarted Notepad++, the colors went back to default, even though Style Configurator still list them as the new colors

I’d definitely concur that there’s a bug with the implementation.

You need to report this to the developer. Will we have to wait for a fix again for several months or years?

You need to report this to the developer.

It WAS reported, in the form of a critical bug report on release 8.7; see HERE.
