why virtue signaling?
-
I just noticed the names to the most recent NPP releases. What is the point of this?
I wish people would inform themselves before going public with an opinion based on false assumptions.
In another thread, someone replied to the question of why there is no virtue signaling for Gaza, this situation is too complicated. Fair enough. Better to stay silent but trying to push own opinion based on limited knowledge and understanding.
So why is Taiwan considered as straight forward?Don’t the devs know that both ROC (Taiwan) and PRC (China) claim to be the only legit China including both mainland China and island of Taiwan? (yes Taiwan claims mainland China)
And that Taiwan is officially still a party in Chinese civil war against PRC?
And that acknowledging Taiwan’s independence implicitly acknowledge Taiwan’s reign over mainland China and delegitimize the government of PRC?
Since this is officially still a situation of civil war, acknowledging Taiwan’s independence is taking side in an internal affair of China.
There is a good reason why nations are still hesitating to acknowledge Taiwan’s independence.I am not saying the situation is good as it is now and I am absolutely for getting to a final resolution of the ongoing dispute but just ignoring every and all implications just creates more conflicts.
Regardless of lack of knowledge, why trying to push political agenda and opinions on others?
Or is it just a private opinion of devs? Then why not posting this opinion on their social media? -
I think that different segments of the population live there. Some people don’t care who is their boss, who collects taxes, Taiwan or China. For others it is important. For example, in this situation, they occupy high positions and rule a country or city, so it is important for them to maintain their dominance. If this is a programmer, then perhaps they have a good income now, but are not sure what will happen to them in the future. Therefore, there are people who are indifferent and there are people who want everything to remain the same.
