My notepad++ just crashed, and the file I was working on turned into a blank empty file, size 0 bytes. This did not happen with any of the other 5 files I had open in tabs, just the one that I was trying to save when the crash happened.

Fortunately, I had a verbose backup file so I didn’t loose too much. However, these verbose files can start taking up a lot of space, especially with frequent saves.

      I have three questions:

      1. What is the difference between simple and verbose backup?

      2. Is there a manual somewhere so I can look this up for myself the the next time (the home/project pages and in program help don’t seem to have anything).

      3. Is there a better way to get my file back/what the heck happened?

      Thank you.

I found 3a in the default backup location, thank goodness. However, that still leaves my remaining queries, please.
