Can't install v6.8.8

Trying to install v6.8.8
When I run the installation program I get the following error:

Error opening file for writing:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Notepad++\SciLexer.dll

Click Abort to stop the installation,
Retry to try again, or
Ignore to skip this file.

Can someone please assist.

are you an administrator?
Is there a chance that this file already exists and is locked by another process?

@Claudia-Frank Hi, yes I have admin rights and no the file doesn’t exist. Have checked all the logical things.

the message is normally very clear, it should be something like that.
Are you 100% sure, that no other process (old npp installation?) is locking it?
Maybe a reboot and another try will fix it !?
